Here is a must-have for those who are starting (or not) with veganism. Marion Lagardette, also known as La Petite Okara on YouTube and Instagram, delights us with a vegan bible. It’s the first recipe book I’ve read from A to Z.
Like many, she starts with introductions: veganism, for whom, why… but not too much! She is clear and concise. Marion then offers us step by step to change our diet, starting with Day 1 – breakfasts. And for 30 days, we will discover all the possibilities offered by the plant-based world to create meals without animal-origin products. Each day has its theme (how to replace meat, how to cook tofu, alternatives to milk, fish…), an explanatory page related to the topic, and two recipes.
In the end, we have in our hands a very comprehensive product that delves deep into the topics without making them indigestible (which is quite appreciated for a cookbook) and 60 recipes to delight us (Leek Quiche, Wrap, Mac and Cheese, Waffles, spread,…).
Of all the books I own, “30 Days to Become Vegan” is certainly one of the most worn, stained, and commented on. Among my favorite recipes (all of which have been a great success), there are pancakes that I make almost every Sunday, the marine rillettes club sandwich, the blanquette (because yes, it’s also important when starting – or not – to keep some reference points and to succeed in veganizing a classic dish. And it’s just delicious).
You will have understood that whether you have been vegan for 15 years or 6 days, this book is a little gem, to read, to offer, to savor.
